Replace Blades on a Riding Lawn Mower — powered by eHow.com

“Hi, I’m Paul Popplewell, with Central Equipment Company. I’ve been employed with them for 18 years. Today I’m here to represent Expert Village. Now that we’ve verified that our blades are worth sharpening, they’re in good shape and we’ve sharpened and balanced them, we need to reinstall them on the mower deck. The first thing we want to do is make sure we install them with the cutting edge oriented in the right position. On most mower decks, you put the beveled cutting edge up. In this case it’ll look like the bottom side of the blade is facing down. We’ll put the washer back on and the nut. We’ll use a block of wood to stop the blade and a ratchet with our 15/16ths socket. Again, we’ll use our pipe to make sure our blade’s bolted tight.”
