Valve tower gaskets?

I am about to put an L top end together the weekend, and just realized I don’t have all the gaskets I thought I had, being missing several valve tower gaskets.

I have the early trap door guides and covers, that are made in two separate pieces, but have the little door for adjusting the valves – not the earlier spring style.

My book shows a narrow ring gasket that goes between the tappet guide and the spring cover. The local dealer does not have any, and says they would be $6.50 each if they did, so I figure I’ll try to make a couple. Can anyone tell me what they are made out of and how thick?

(later one piece guide/covers seem to use the same gasket between the top of the tower and the spring plate. Or is that my imagination?)

Also, later parts books show another gasket between the cylinder casting and the upper spring loctator, that mine did not have. Should I bother to add one?
