What To Do When You Get Your Tractor Stuck

December 22nd, 2008 | Tags:

It can be a nightmare getting a farm tractor stuck and getting it out of the situation.

Being sensible with your machinery will help prevent you from getting your tractor stuck. However, if you should get your tractor stuck here are a few helpful hints:

One of the most important things to remember is to try and back your tractor out of the mud rather than going forward.

If reversing your farm tractor does not work unhinge and tow implements and then try to dig the mud, or whatever it is that you are stuck in, away from the wheels at the rear of the tractor and then place boards behind these wheels.

While doing this be prepared to get messy and be patient as the more you try and rush this process, the harder it will be to prevent your tractor from getting stuck further.

Once the boards are placed behind the rear wheels of the vehicle, it is time to get back in to the tractor and then prepare to back out slowly. This may be made easier if you dig a little of the mud from the front wheels as well, but this isn’t always the case.

If you are still finding the tractor stuck fast then it may be time to tow it out and for this you will need another reasonably sized vehicle and towing equipment to ensure that this is possible.
