CLAAS LAUNCHES THE ORBIS 900 FORAGE HEADER

CLAAS of America Inc. Announces the launch of the most recent addition to its range of ORBIS forage heads. The ORBIS 9 hundred is a row independent head that will cover 30 feet ( 12rows / 30′ ) of corn, milo and forage sorghum in a single pass. Less time in the field, bigger fuel potency together with the capacity and chop quality you would only expect from CLAAS.
The new ORBIS 900 head allows high h.p. CLAAS forage harvesters to maximize their capacity. The grower now has the facility to harvest seriously more tons of corn per day than the ORBIS 750 or other 10-row ( twenty-five ft. ) heads. The drive system with low beginning torque sets a new baseline compared to other heads in the bizz.
The ORBIS 900 is uniquely engineered with a V-shaped crop flow that funnels the crop smoothly from the head into the forage harvester. Huge drums on the end transport crop to the center and make a windrow effect for the crop to enter the forage harvester, resulting in higher chop quality and increased fuel efficiency. The drums keep the outside rows on each end away from the uncut local rows giving growers less cob loss.
Standard Auto Contour adjusts the head up and down and the new suspended frame geometry instantly neutralizes lateral tilt. This gives the grower the facility to adapt to the topography of the field providing the best versatility of harvesting in crop and terrain.
Bob Armstrong, north american Product selling Manager for CLAAS summarised the ORBIS 900 transport as the best creativity of a big head. ‘Many growers may look at a head this size and wonder how a head of this magnitude can be taken from field to field. The ORBIS 900 folds flat for transport. Driver visibility is increased and grower safety is extended as the folding wings are controlled with a hydraulic module – present on the head itself.’ Armstrong continued,’This makes it possible for any JAGUAR 900 series machine to operate the head without any additional equipment. As the ORBIS nine hundred is folded beyond dead center it remains securely locked in both operational and travel modes.
The ORBIS nine hundred is a welcome addition to the CLAAS ORBIS series of heads, breaking all the rules to cover more acres in less time, saving valuable fuel and work costs.
