There are a wide range of trucks on the highways and byways of America. There are four types of base work for truck drivers and these are regional, local, dedicated, and also the one-way which is commonly referred to as over the road or OTR.

A lot of drivers work for specific delivery transport and shipping companies. These companies include shipping and freight companies. These all cover vast geographical areas and they are located within the forty-eight different states. Most of the drivers of these tractors are now able to have at least a couple of days off a week.

The drivers of these tractors tend to be people who enjoy getting out and enjoying the open road. These drivers pull transport for a wide range of shipping companies and they deliver to a wide range of different places. These drivers actually never know where they will be from one day to the next so it is very hard to have any sort of finishing time and sometimes the trips require overnight stays.

These drivers can be categorised into drivers of four different containers, which are vans, either dry or refrigerated, flatbed lorries, tankers and binary trailers.

The van drivers may drive either dry vans or vans which are refrigerated or a combination of the two types depending on what products they are delivering. These drivers are likely to transport a very wide range of products, which includes papers, dry food substances, automotive parts the list is actually endless.

The drivers of the flatbed lorries are most likely to carry large and bulky materials which may include vehicles, houses, boats and caravans to name a few the list is pretty much endless. These lorries tend to be very sturdy, as they need to be able to carry a lot of weight.
