The farm tractor as we know it today has a history that is rich and Illustrious but also somewhat troublesome with some of the most popular versions of these tractors that we know today proving to be not soo popular back in the days that they were first developed.

The first ever tractor sale that has been recorded was in 1897. The tractor was manufactured by Hornsby-Ackroyd and was a safety oil patented traction engine, which was gasoline, powered for optimum usage. The most successful commercially design that was sold and is the first recorded was manufactured by Ivel and was a three wheeled tractor sold in 1902. It is tractors such as these and also descendants of these that are known as antique farm tractors and have now become somewhat of a collector’s item for the farm tractor fanatics.
